Recently, I have been wondering about competitions in niche/unorthodox topics.
Of course, widely-recognized competitions exist for topics such as CS, Physics, Biology, Latin, etc… but I would like to know if any of you have encountered a fairly serious competition in a subject you never thought would have a competition. For example, I recently learned about the MIT Mystery Hunt, a puzzle-solving competition, and it stuck with me because I didn’t expect ‘puzzlehunts’ to be something that so many people participated in.
Ideally, I’d like to know more about competitions you can study and/or practice for in the STEM field, but really anything is fine; I just want to see if there’s some competition in some field I don’t know about that I could look into for fun.
I’m asking this here, in the Off-Topic category, because I don’t really know where else I could ask such a question.
Thanks
