I’m doing the USACO guide and I’m trying to grind out all the silver problems. I can do the easy problems very easily, but I haven’t been able to solve one normal problem by myself (I always resort to looking at the editorial). I don’t know if I am even improving from this, like I understand how to resolve problems but I am having trouble solving new USACO silver normal problems that I haven’t encountered before.
i have this problem too
Can you give an example of a module and problems you could / couldn’t solve by yourself?
I don’t think our difficulty ordering is necessarily very accurate, so I’m surprised that all the problems marked as easy are easier than all the problems marked as normal.
Yes, for the binary search module, I could easy solve the easy problems such as factory machines, array divisions, guess the k zero. When I looked at the problem, I thought for 10 ish minutes and could full solve in <25 min. But when I got to the normal problems, such as Magic Ship and The Meeting Place could not be changed, I think for around 45 min and tend to think of a wrong solution. I legit haven’t gotten a single one of these normal ones right by myself without looking at solution.
No problem bro, if you want more pratice, I suggest you go to codeforces, because problems with a specific module could vary drastically in the way of thinking, its better to really train your problem solving skills which would help making the modules much easier and have a better perspective to the problems
Im also struggling lol, the whole more about prefix sums and prefix sums section include a section about dp dawg… ![]()
