C++ is a challenging language to learn, but since she is young, it will pay back in spades later. If she finds C++ too difficult, another way is to learn python first so that she learns the concepts of OOP and programming, but later she could learn C++ to compete. Also, difficultly is very specific to the person. I know people who learned C++ in a few days.

I’ve heard great success from people who learned Java then C++. Is this perhaps because Java is easier than C++, and so it’s like a gradual increase in difficulty?
